Thus far, I've never been able to stay away from the stage for too long. Playing live is being able to exercise (or is it exorcise?) that extroverted-introvert in me. I've opened [with former groups] for such acts as A Flock of Seagulls, Men Without Hats, Los Lobos, War, and have shared the stage with Carlos Santana. Another musical apex was our rendition of the National Anthem at a sold-out Oakland Raiders / Dallas Cowboys game fronting the Jorge Santana Band.
I still compose original pop material — it's yet another creative muscle I have to flex. You can refer to the music portal players here to hear my latest stuff.
Although a composer & lyricist, I also specialize in cover music for special occasions and events. My 'for hire' singing repertoire is focused on Latin (pop, salsa, tropical and gypsy) music, as well as classic American standards and pop hits. I've performed many of the historic stages in San Francisco, as well as other cities in the United States.
My baritenor vocal style harkens back to the days of crooners, such as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and even David Bowie — my personal fave — yet I suppose it's my Spanish heritage that brings out the core gypsy, inspiring my overall performance and energy.
My song, Cool Cat (Everybody Knows) has made Jonathan L's Lopsided World of L international radio show "BEST of 2021" list! Show will air December 14 – 21, 2021, then again January 3 – 8, 2022.
